Mane Attraction Salon was established in 1977, and has been in their Biltmore location since 1981. Chris and Jenny Knudsen are proud third generation owners of MAS. Chris began his career at MAS in 2008 and after years of hands on experience working with the company was able to become partners with the previous owners Kendall and Beate Ong.
In 2015 Chris and Jenny Knudsen joined the ownership of MAS. Chris is a third generation hairdresser himself and grew up around the hair industry in Wisconsin. He was inspired to enter the hair industry after watching most of his family and most notably his parents Erik and Carol Knudsen, who are internationally recognized hairdressers and entrepreneurs, succeed in the industry. Chris began his career at MAS and is still currently one of the cutting educators, stylists, mentors and now owners of MAS with his wife Jenny. Jenny brings her experience and knowledge having managed salons in the past.
Jenny met Chris in 1998. Since then she has had the privilege of being exposed to his family of hairdressers and salon owners. She has traveled with them to hair shows and has even attended salon business classes with them. After receiving a degree in Human Development with an Emphasis in Counseling Services from CSU-San Marcos and marrying Chris in 2006, Jenny and Chris moved to AZ. Over the years Jenny has worked in retail, real estate, and salons. Her work in all of these areas has given her many different skill sets that she is able to use in the salon today. Her passion for organization and attention to detail allows her to work with her team to make sure the internal operations of MAS run flawlessly. She has a passion for community and is thrilled to work alongside her husband, as the third generation of husband and wife owners, to continue to grow the impact that Mane Attraction Salon has had in Phoenix since 1977.
Education is engrained in the MAS culture. All stylists go through an intensive internal training program to ensure the highest standards in our industry. Additionally, our staff travels nationally and internationally for advanced training to bring home the latest in hair and fashion to our clients. Recent trips have included education in Berlin, Edinburgh, New York, Brussels and London.
Because of this commitment to education our work has been seen in national and international media and trade publications such as Vogue, Harpers Bazaar, Arizona Republic, Glamour, Celebrity Shortcuts, Good Day Arizona, Allure, Midday Arizona and Cosmopolitan, to name a few.
